Kaleidoscope operates two programs:

Kaleidoscope After-school Learning Program
An after-school learning program sponsored by the Reich College of Education for children who are in Kindergarten through Grade 8

Camp Kaleidoscope
A summer enrichment program for rising 1st-6th grade students sponsored by the Reich College of Education

About Kaleidoscope After-school Learning Program

Kaleidoscope offers children a stimulating multi-faceted learning experience with:

  • homework support and remedial reading and math assistance
  • academic tutoring
  • regular access to books and multi-media
  • guest speakers
  • arts and crafts
  • indoor and outdoor games
  • field trips to on-campus locations and downtown Boone attractions

Program Supervision

The program is supervised by experienced master teachers. They are assisted by a talented group of tutors and mentors who are undergraduate students in the Reich College of Education (RCOE).

Meeting Times

Kaleidoscope operates Monday through Thursday from 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm during Appalachian's Fall and Spring semesters.  

Site Location

  • Reich College of Education (RCOE) building on the Appalachian campus

Registration for the Kaleidoscope After-School Learning Program will open November 1, 2021.  Parents will be notified of acceptance status no later than November 15, 2021.

Families may choose either a Monday/Wednesday or a Tuesday/Thursday placement, but priority is given to families who register children for all four days. Space is very limited and openings will be filled by lottery, if necessary.  The program will maintain a waitlist.

About Camp Kaleidoscope Summer Enrichment Program

Camp Kaleidoscope operates during the month of July, Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Registration For Camp Kaleidoscope will open April 1, 2022.  

Space is very limited, and openings will be filled by lottery, if necessary.  Camp Kaleidoscope will maintain a waitlist.
