Currently, she is a teacher for Franklin County Schools, at Bunn High School in Louisburg, North Carolina, primarily teaching eleventh-grade English III, AP Language and Composition, and AP Research.
During her time at Appalachian, Hearn was part of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program.
“Appalachian gave me the opportunities and support to grow as an educator. It is a university that mirrored my own dedication and used its traditions to inspire the future.”
Impacting Education in Her Community
Hearn is making an impact on education in her community.
“One of the reasons that I love BHS is that it is an integral part of the community at large: the school itself is synonymous with the town,” said Hearn. “I am proud to foster a culture of success for students at all levels. We are a small school that is full of talented students, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents.”
“During my tenure, I have been at the forefront of bringing AP Language and AP Capstone to our school,” she continued. “Through my work as leader of the district-wide English III/IV PLC, I have helped to shape curricular choices and hone best practices.”
