Kae Treadway (née McHenry), originally from Claremont, North Carolina, graduated in 1991 with a B.S. in English secondary education with a minor in Spanish and 2006 with a M.A. in reading education.
Currently, Treadway is an elementary school academic facilitator for Catawba County Schools in Catawba, North Carolina. She also teaches Spanish 1 online for high school credit. Prior to this, she taught high school English and Spanish and worked as a literacy coach.
Treadway was a member of the first class of North Carolina Teaching Fellows.

Impacting Education in Her Community
Treadway is making an impact on education in her community. She serves on a number of committees in leadership roles at her school and in her district.
“I am also a mentor to two beginning teachers,” said Treadway.
“I have been honored to be chosen as our county teacher of the year in both the secondary and elementary categories,” said Treadway.
Being a Mountaineer runs in her family. Her daughter earned a degree from Appalachian in 2017 and is currently a graduate student studying speech therapy.
