Dance Marathon Raises Over $39,000 for Parent to Parent Family Support Network & Western Youth Network

Appalachian State University's Dance Marathon was held at Legends on February 25, 2017. This annual event raised over $39,000 for Parent to Parent Family Support NetworkTM and Western Youth Network, exceeding the previous year's total.

Kaaren Hayes, Director of Parent to Parent Family Support NetworkTM said about the event:

The Dance Marathon was an amazing event again this year. The students raised $39,088 that will be split between Parent to Parent FSN-HC and Western Youth Network! Many of the dancers were from the Reich College of Education, namely the Appalachian Educators  Club. The Autism Society of North Carolina Appalachian State Campus Chapter also raised funds. Students, through funds from the Dance Marathon and Spooky Duke, have kept our program afloat in 3 counties for several years now. Can't say enough good things about them. The have put their feet and hearts into making social justice and diversity real at Appalachian.

As mentioned by Hayes, the Appalachian Educators Club was a participating team, raising $2,600. They had a great turn out with over 20 participants dancing for the full 15 hours! Many of the participants were first year students (and first time dancers). Because the experience was amazing, many plan to participate again next year.
