Dr. Joey Lord, Instructional Coordinator of Hickory Education Programs and lecturer in the Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum has joined the Reich College of Education faculty.
Lord received an Ed.D. in education/curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix, an M.S.Ed. in mathematics education from Nova Southeastern University, an M.A.Ed. in education administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix, and a B.S. in psychology from Ball State University.

Her research interests include mathematics education, achievement gaps, equitable learning, MTSS/RTI, intervention, and science education.
Lord chose App State because she was excited about working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
“I have learned that the best way to achieve great things is to work with others who share your values and goals,” said Lord. “I believe that Appalachian State University provides an environment where I can make a difference by helping students grow, learn, and thrive.”
Lord said that she is “most excited about being an integral part of establishing a thriving program for the Reich College of Education on the new Hickory Campus.”
Fun facts about Lord: “I have a crazy love for Chow Chow puppies. My husband and I plan to open a rescue when we retire.”
She is also an avid reader and loves the fall weather in the mountains.
