Early Childhood Care and Leadership Club Hosts Virtual Day of Play

The Reich College of Education’s (RCOE) Early Childhood Care and Leadership Club (ECCEL) is hosting a Virtual Day of Play. This online event is a time to provide students, families, and teachers opportunities to incorporate play into their lives, homes, and classrooms.

Club members will post a series of videos and descriptions of various activities that students, families, and teachers can easily do in their home, office, or classroom while practicing social distancing. The domains of the activities will be creative, physical, and outdoor-related.

The activities are grounded in the philosophy of Vince Gowman, author and counselor, who said, “When we make play the foundation of learning, we teach the whole child.”

To participate, use the hashtag #ecceldop to share versions of the activities with the club or send a direct message (DM) to the club.

RCOE teacher education majors can receive professional development credit for participating. After viewing the videos and reading the descriptions, complete a 3-2-1 Reflection! Register to receive credit!

About Early Childhood Care and Leadership Club

Started in Fall 2019 by a group of family and child studies majors with the desire to share the importance of early education and to support other early care and educators in developing advocacy skills and professionalism, the ECCEL club was created to promote the field of early childhood education, develop student leadership and advocacy skills, and to connect current students with mentors and alumni.
