Throughout my time at App State, I have been an active member of the campus ministry "CRU." Through CRU, I was given the opportunity to lead a Bible study for two years! I was able to hone in on my desire to teach, learn, lead and dive into authentic relationships. It was an amazing opportunity where I grew and provided me with some of my dearest friends. Some of my favorite memories are just hanging out with the girls in my group and getting to know them! I also was able to get to know members of the Boone community through tutoring and babysitting for local families on the side. This was a great way to spend my time in Boone!

I have to say, all of my professors in the Reich College of Education were amazing! Some that stand out to me are Mrs. Jenny McCourry, Dr. Christina Tschida, Dr. Leslie Bradbury, Dr. Jeffrey Coats and Dr. Jason DeHart. These professors taught us with energy, passion, and intentionality! I never felt like time was wasted on "busy work." Everything these professors gave us had a direct purpose. I am using the things each of these professors taught me today as I student teach, and will continue to use them as I move forward into my first year teaching in first grade!
In a nutshell, what has App State meant to you?
In a nutshell, my time at App State has been amazing. I spent some days pressing "fast forward" just out of my pure excitement to teach. However, I must say, there is just nothing like App State. It will forever be the place I made dear friends, created memories I will forever cherish, learned the importance of a raincoat, saw beauty like never before, grew in my relationship with Jesus, got engaged to the love of my life, and learned so many things that will help me be the teacher my students deserve. I will be teaching students for years to come, forever talking up those App State Mountaineers!
