Some of my favorite memories involve taking up skiing during my time here. My family enjoys skiing, but I never had the time to take it up growing up so I'm glad I have learned an activity that I can do for a long time. Another favorite memory of me was getting to see App State beat South Carolina in person. It was such a fun game.

Mrs. Jenny McCourry and Dr. Allen Bryant. Both of these teachers were so focused on building relationships with their students and they both offered great advice for long-term career success rather than just teaching the content. The content was related to a career in education and how we can transfer our knowledge. They were very transparent in offering to tell their own academic and professional stories and experiences which often made one feel better that others go through the same things. I wish I could have had them longer!

In a nutshell, what has App State meant to you?

When I was graduating high school, I never applied to App State. I planned to attend UNCW but then decided I should spend two years at a community college first. I then applied to transfer to App State and it was the best decision I could have made. It was the perfect size for me and I added to a family tradition of App State grads. I always believe you end up where you are supposed to, even if it takes you a little longer to get there. I have met some long-lasting friendships and I am so grateful for how I have grown over the years here at App State.
