Dr. Rebecca Coats has been named Director of Assessment and Accreditation for the Reich College of Education.
Coats has worked in education since 2002 and in higher education since 2005. She began her career as a secondary English teacher, and has worked in multiple areas of higher education.
Her areas of expertise include:
- Assessment
- Accreditation
- Institutional effectiveness
- First-year programs
- Student success
- Retention and graduation initiatives
- Athletics.
Before joining the Appalachian family, she was employed at Eureka College (IL), Bowling Green State University (OH), and in the Alabama Community College system.
Coats is originally from the Gulf Coast of Alabama and enjoys reading, traveling, and hiking with her husband and dogs. A proud graduate of both Auburn University and the University of Alabama, she is looking forward to adding “Go Mountaineers!” to her battle cry lineup.
