Sharon Lawrence Joins RCOE Staff

Sharon Lawrence has joined the Department of Family and Child Studies in the Reich College of Education (RCOE) at Appalachian State University as an Administrative Support Specialist. 

In her role with the RCOE, Lawrence will provide budgetary and administrative support to the department and Lucy Brock Child Development Laboratory Program.

Previously, Lawrence was the founder and business owner of Wee-Cycle Children's Consignment in Boone, North Carolina. She also provided finance and payroll support for an area company.

 “I see the role as a way of further developing my career in a forward-thinking, wonderful university. I am excited to be a part of such an amazing place!”

When asked why she chose App State, Lawrence said, “I see the role as a way of further developing my career in a forward-thinking, wonderful university. I am excited to be a part of such an amazing place!”

“I am thankful for the opportunities that I have in this new role,” she continued.

Lawrence is the mother of four children and the grandmother of three grandchildren. Two of her children are currently enrolled at App State. Lawrence’s family is her “number one hobby and interest.”  

“I love cooking for them and sharing everything from outdoor activities to game night or movie night,” she added.  

She also enjoys gardening and eating healthy, as well as traveling and spending time with her husband.

When asked to share something interesting about herself, Lawrence said, “When I was a little girl I always said I wanted to grow up to be a school teacher.”
