Welcome New Staff Members: Spring 2023

Welcome new staff members to Appalachian State University's Reich College of Education (RCOE). Read on to learn about everyone and why they joined the staff at App State.

Ronda Eldreth

Department of Leadership and Educational Studies, Lead Administrative Assistant

Ronda Eldreth

Eldreth’s responsibilities include budget planning and administrative duties.

She holds an executive secretary certificate from Licking County Joint Vocational School. Before App State, Eldreth worked in a law office, an accounting office, and an insurance claims office.

“It is my desire to leave a positive impact on all those I meet or see throughout my day.”

Eldreth is excited about the learning opportunities at App State, especially the courses she can take as a staff member - “something dealing with accounting and finance!”

She enjoys traveling without a map, spending time with her family, and watching Law and Order. Her favorite tidbit about herself: “I have traveled through all 48 states with San Diego, California, being my destination of choice.”

Hannah Magee ’21

James Center for Student Success and Advising, University Program Associate

 Hannah Magee

Magee assists the James Center for Student Success and Advising, with her duties including:

  • Managing the budgets;
  • Being an office manager for the space; and
  • Acting as a liaison between students and advisors.

“I am most excited about learning new skill sets and being able to help students,” said Magee.

Magee earned a Bachelor of Arts in theatre performance from App State. As a student, she worked as an office assistant for the Department of Theatre and Dance.

“I am a proud alumna and to be able to work for a university that helped me grow as a professional and as a person is an honor.”

Magee’s hobbies include painting and crafting, as well as reading a good romantic thriller. She also has a cat named Walter who, she notes is “the best kitty in the world”.

An interesting fact about Magee is that she has been a vegetarian for about five years and that she loves Taco Bell!

Mary Logan Yancey

Office of the Dean, Administrative Support Specialist

 Mary Logan Yancey

Yancey assists the Lab Schools and the Public School Partnership with various administrative tasks and develops communications content.

Yancey earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

“I am most excited to get to know all of the amazing people from the Lab Schools and Public School Partnership I will be working with,” said Yancey. “They are all doing such amazing things, and I am excited to be a part of it.”

“My partner and I have both always been very drawn to App State because we both desired to pursue a career in higher education. I am thrilled that we finally ended up here, and that I get to work in such an amazing college.”

Before joining the RCOE, Yancey was an administrative assistant in property management and a marketing technical assistant for an insurance company.

In her free time, Yancey loves to read and bake. She also loves visiting the national parks. Her interesting fact: she usually reads about 70+ books in a year, and that reading is her favorite hobby!
