The seventh annual Women in Educational Leadership Symposium (WIELS) will be held virtually, Thursday, October 6, and Friday, October 7, 2022.
Dr. Karrie G. Dixon, CEO and Chancellor of Elizabeth City State University, will deliver the keynote address, A Seat at the Table.
Additionally, there will be two panel discussions:
- Navigating the Career Journey: Choices and Lessons Learned Along the Way, moderated by Alyson Ebaugh, Interim Director of Human Resources at Appalachian State University; and
- How to Lead Well: Preventing Burnout and Achieving Balance in Uncertain Times, moderated by Dr. Shawn Ricks, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies at Appalachian State University.
WIELS is a partnership between faculty members in Appalachian State University's Department of Leadership and Educational Studies (housed in the Reich College of Education) and practicing educators. The partnership aims to equip women with pragmatic knowledge, skills, and dispositions that prepare them for success as educational leaders.
The symposium theme is Advancing the Leader Within: Building Capacity. WIELS invites attendees from all sectors involved in educational leadership and current App State students.
