Bachelor of Science, Elementary Education

Tell us about your collegiate activities, your clubs and organizations, or your favorite memories.

Throughout my time at Appalachian, I was actively involved on campus, especially within the Hayes School of Music. I was a member of the Marching Mountaineers for the entirety of my college career and was Sousaphone Section Leader for several seasons. I was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity where I served as Editor, Vice President of Membership, and President. I was awarded the Collegiate Honor Award, Sword of Honor, and Province Leadership Award- Ruby Sword of honor.  Additionally, I was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity, where I served as Historian and Treasurer. My time at Appalachian was so special because of the people I was fortunate enough to meet through my time involved with music.

Share the names of your favorite professors or other mentors you'd like to thank (and why).

All of the professors I had made an incredible impact on me! I want to thank Jeff Goodman especially. Jeff was one of the most caring people I've met at App State and always went out of his way to make sure all of his students were okay. I strive to be the educator that Jeff is! Additionally, I want to thank Heather Lippard, Nicole Sonbert, and Meg Stohlmann for being huge supporters of me professionally and personally.

In a nutshell, what has App State meant to you?

App State has been a home for me. I was able to find myself and make an impact on my local community through service and involvement. Appalachian is such a unique place and I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to be a Mountaineer!
