Karen Laws has joined the Reich College of Education’s (RCOE) Office of the Dean as an administrative support specialist.
Laws will serve as the primary administrative and budgetary support for the associate dean for student affairs and program services.
Laws has held many positions at Appalachian State University over her 22-year tenure, including a few in the RCOE. Most recently she was a transfer recruitment specialist with the Transfer Admissions and Engagement Office.
“I am excited to learn about new things in my role with the RCOE Dean's Office,” said Laws. “I can't wait to reconnect with old friends and make new introductions.”
Recently, she completed a Bachelor of Science in communication studies with a minor in business from App State.
“Since starting with App State, I have always had a strong allegiance to the university,” she noted. “When I was exploring a change in my career, staying within the Appalachian community was an obvious choice.”
Laws enjoys being outside as much as possible either gardening, hiking, camping, or riding her motorcycle.
Laws also gives back to her community as a ScoutMaster for Scout BSA Troop 254 in Lenoir, as well as being a Vigil member of Scouting’s National Honor Society: Order of the Arrow.
