Dr. George Maycock, associate professor in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies, is retiring after 39 years of working in the Reich College of Education (RCOE) at Appalachian State University.
During his tenure, he has taught courses on research, specifically the Research Methods and Teacher as Researcher courses.
“Appalachian has grown into an outstanding university,” said Maycock reflecting on his time here. “It is hard to believe we got along without computers or the internet when I started here.”

In retirement, Maycock is looking forward to more hiking and potentially writing a science fiction book.
However, he will “miss interacting with everyone here, especially the students.”
