Why I Chose to be an App State Teaching Fellow

Being a part of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program at Appalachian State University has provided me with a multitude of tools and experiences that have shaped me and my future education career. Being a part of such an incredible group of fellow teachers has allowed me to build relationships and connections with students and educators who all share the same goal as me, to become the best teacher possible. I have been able to learn from and network with experienced educators as well as gain knowledge in the field of pedagogy through professional development and a plethora of memorable collaborative opportunities.

Being a part of this community has given me a constant support system allowing for me to grow my love for and understanding of the art of teaching. It has provided me with connections to students on similar paths as me, as well as students on different paths, allowing for strong collaboration and teamwork to push me to be the strongest future teacher possible. Allowing myself to become fully immersed into such an incredible program is an opportunity I am so thankful to have been given and one that I couldn’t recommend more to anyone choosing to step into the role as a future teacher!
