Building Access
The Reich College of Education (RCOE) building is open to the campus community and public during campus operational hours, not including university holidays, closures, or special events:
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
AppCard access
- Enrolled students: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Faculty & staff: Access available after hours, weekends, and holidays with AppCard.
About the Building
Opened in 2011, the 123,376-square-foot, six-story facility is located at 151 College Street, Boone, NC 28608, next to Plemmons Student Union and Belk Library.

All classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors and computer stations.
Floor Plans
Faculty and staff can access floor plans for space and instructional planning purposes by logging in with university credentials and searching “RCOE” on the Floor Plans portal.
Sustainability & LEED Certification
The LEED program (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a global standard for green building. In 2013, the RCOE building earned LEED® Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable features include:
- Energy-efficient lighting
- Green vegetative roof & reflective roofing
- Water-conserving plumbing & landscaping
- Solar hot water panels
- Energy-efficient HVAC system
- Recycled and regionally sourced building materials

Lost & Found
The James Center for Student Success and Advising manages lost and found items for the College of Education. Items are held for one semester before being donated.
