App State students interested in becoming educators need to apply for admission to Teacher Education.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall semester: August 1
  • Spring semester: January 1

How to Apply

To apply, you’ll submit the Teacher Education application and make sure all requirements below are met by the deadline.

  • Criminal background check (completed within 6 months of applying)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • At least 30 semester hours completed
  • Minimum grade of C (2.0) or higher* in:
    • RC 1000
    • EDU 2000
    • EDU 2100
  • No incomplete grades
  • Attend a First Steps to Teaching meeting during the semester you apply and pass the follow-up quiz

*Students may apply to Teacher Education while required courses are in progress (after drop/add ends), but failure to earn a C or above in these courses will prevent admission into Teacher Education.


Application Instructions

To get started, log in to AppalNet Self-Service.

  1. Go to the “Student Tab.”
  2. Select “Students - Additional Systems & Resources” drop-down.
  3. Select “RCOE Student Services.”
  4. Select “Teacher Education Application.”
    1. If you meet all of the requirements, simply click submit. You and your advisor will receive an email acknowledging the successful submission of your application.
    2. If you have NOT met all of the requirements, your account will show what is missing (if this is the case, you will need to contact your advisor, listed on your account).

Check the Status of Your Application

Use steps 1-4 of the Application Instructions to navigate to your application status in AppalNet Self-Service.
