Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program

The mission of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is to develop a community of practice that will support graduate students enrolled in Counseling, Family Therapy, and Higher Education courses to move from novice towards entry level mental health practitioners through the process of socially meaningful activities that develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become effective, ethical and competent counselors with diverse clients across the human spectrum.

Counseling Certification Programs

Degree and certificate programs prepare students to pursue licensure in professional counseling or specified areas of specialization in the state of North Carolina. Additional qualifications may need to be met to obtain professional licensure. See program details for more information.

M.A. Degree Program

The Master of Arts degree program is a 60-hour CACREP accredited degree that is a challenging, yet embracing environment for professional counselor preparation.

Certificate in Addiction Counseling

Prepares students to pursue appropriate supervision toward North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB) credentials.

Prepares students to implement the practice of using storytelling, dance, music, drama, and other artistic modalities to foster human development and healing.
