Who Should Apply
This program is designed for licensed teachers who aspire to:
- Serve as curriculum specialists or instructional coaches

- Advise on teacher development, instructional improvement, and assessment

Active North Carolina teaching license required for admission.
Licensure
Successful completion of the program, along with a qualifying score on the PRAXIS 5411: Educational Leadership – Administration and Supervision, leads to North Carolina Curriculum-Instructional Specialist, Level I licensure through the N.C. Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

Internship
Students complete an 80-hour internship under the guidance of experienced administrative or supervisory personnel. The internship provides meaningful opportunities to:
- Observe and evaluate curriculum implementation
- Participate in professional development planning
- Collaborate on instructional improvement projects
Most students complete internship hours after school or during early summer. Flexibility is available through participating school districts.
Product of Learning
The Product of Learning (POL) serves as a culminating project that demonstrates your growth, applied learning, and mastery of program competencies.
- Presented during your final semester to your advisor and a qualified education professional
- Conducted on the App State campus
- Must be uploaded to TK20 prior to graduation
