The Anderson Reading Clinic is North Carolina’s only university-based clinic providing year-round reading support to children while training the next generation of expert reading teachers. The clinic delivers individualized reading and writing instruction to children in the community, helping them build essential literacy skills and confidence.
Community Impact
The clinic serves K–8 students in Watauga County, offering approximately 15 hours of one-to-one instruction per child.
Sessions are held Monday through Thursday, 4:00–6:00 pm, in RCOE Room 328E on App State’s campus.

Supporting Future Educators
Education majors at App State gain hands-on experience teaching reading in the clinic. Students develop practical teaching skills under the guidance of experienced supervisory staff, receiving constructive feedback to become effective reading teachers ready to make a difference in public schools.
