Dr. Denise Brewer is an associate professor at Appalachian State University. She earned her doctorate in special education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, her master’s degree in early intervention and family support from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her undergraduate degree in child development: birth through kindergarten from Appalachian State University.
Prior to joining Appalachian State University, she was as an early interventionist with Mecklenburg County Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA), working with children with disabilities ages birth to three and their families.
Research interests and background include developmentally appropriate assessment and practices with young children and their families, advocacy, and teaming with families (transdisciplinary).
